1. The only thing we are told in the New Testament to do incessantly is to pray.

1 Thessalonians 5:17: Pray without ceasing.

Ephesians 6:18,19: As part of the whole armor of God we are told:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel.

Paul exhorts pray for you, pray for all, pray for me.

Constant prayer was not just Paul’s idea.

Jesus taught it too.

Luke 18:1: And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.

Men here signifies all human individual, mankind, all believers.

Ladies and gentlemen, we should all pray.

Luke 21:36: Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Prayer is our way out of all the end time calamities that shall come upon the earth.

2. The only thing the disciples asked Jesus to teach them was to pray.

Luke 11:1,2: And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in

heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. He teaches them what we commonly call The Lord’s Prayer.

3. Prayer assists to resist temptation.

Luke 22:45,46: And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,

46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

Prayer is key to victory.

4. Prayer is without boundaries.

1 Timothy 2:8: I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

Here men is gender specific. Paul calls men to prayer wherever they may find themselves.

5. Prayer is the cure.

James 5:13-16:

13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

All that can happen through prayer.

6. You have power in prayer too.

17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

As Elijah was, so are we. As he prayed, so can we. Pray. -PJF-
