Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: Jeremiah 32:17
I like the prophet’s exclamation. Chapter 32 is an ongoing dialog between God and the prophet. God has said Judah shall be taken captive but at the same time commanded the prophet to buy land in the city of Anathoth for his future home.
At this point the prophet exclaims, Ah Lord God! It is an exclamation of wonderment. Even in the midst of calamity and captivity God makes a promise of hope and assurance that it is all going to work out and they will return to the land.
Ah Lord God! You are hard to figure out Lord. But okay, I’ll trust you on this one too. After all, you have made heaven and earth by your great power and stretched out arm. Proof positive there is nothing too hard for you!
Perplexity at times assails us and may cause us to cry out, Ah Lord God! Don’t stop there. Acknowledge his greatness. Finish the praise. There is nothing too hard for thee!
Today you may be ambiguously considering your station in life. The “Ah Lord God,” of it all. Yes, things are not going the way I planned perhaps, but yet I know you Lord. There is nothing too hard for you. I’m going to bank on that! -PJF-
