Acts 2:47: And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
The First Church had a pretty good surge going on. The Last Church is not doing as well. Rather than additions there seems to be subtractions.
People are not returning after the lockdowns and the ongoing confusion over safety, vaccines, and politics. Obviously the new administration has not been able to liberate us from anything, quite as most of us expected. They do not have the answer either. We continue to have church with a handful in attendance. Maybe I am entering a new phase of ministry as a “televangelist” for that is where there is the most success. A big thank you to our media partners. I am not discouraged, not today anyway, but certainly a bit disappointed. Much effort is being put forth to reach people and see them get saved and begin living for the Lord. Hey, it would be nice if the already saved would show up. But seems many of them are still in hiding from church. Not Walmart, work, or the theme parks, just the church.
Ok let me put my sleeve away.
I am going back to the Word. Therein is my solace, my inspiration, my faith. We are people of the Word. We endeavor to train people in the Word. It is the only thing that is forever settled in heaven. So then let us look at our Scripture for today.
Immediately I get wonderful sense of hope. My faith is lifted.
And. I like that word. I have a whole sermon on the word And. Found it in the Bible wherever God was doing something new. Genesis One. Acts One. God wants to add an And to our life. There is a continuation in the work of the Lord. And here is one in our Scripture. It is a good one too. And the Lord. Ah how refreshing. I can lay the burden of unreaching the lost at His feet. He is the head of the church. He is the builder of the Church. It is His body. He will not allow the gates of Hell to prevail against it. It is not going under. Hallelujah.
Well glory, as the old Pentecostals used to say. Jesus is not willing that any should perish but wants all to come to repentance. And his desire for that is greater than mine. He has a lot invested. Like the death of His Son.
And the Lord added. One plants, one waters, but God gives the increase. We are happy to plant then and to tip the watering can. In due season we shall reap, if we faint not. The Lord of Acts 2 is the Lord of Acts 2021.
And the Lord added to the church. The Lord’s focus is the church. He does not add people anywhere else. And this was the local assembly with its apostolic leaders and pastors.
42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Lot of folks think the church is not important. They are wrong.
Jesus adds people to the church. Stay connected to a Bible believing church.
And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. Somewhere someone is getting saved every day. So I rejoice in that truth. Jesus makes good use of every 24/7. He still wants to add to the church such as should be saved. Maybe you are such as should be saved. Allow Jesus to add you to his glorious body the church. Perhaps someone in your group is such as should be saved. Tell them about Jesus. Maybe it is tell them again time. Jesus is still adding to his church such as should be saved. And, we will keep the doors open.
