Context Matters part 1

By Pastor Shirley Flores

Psalm 139:13-16 KJV

13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Psalm 139:13-16 NIV

13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

I have read this passage of scripture several times. I learned it in the New International Version first and then in the Kings James Version. It wasn’t until recently that I found that the way it is translated in one of these passages is incorrect.

Read the verses and see if you can tell the difference between them. Next week I will go into the meaning of each word and reveal my findings. -SAF-
