“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” James 4:17

The other day on my way home from work, I stopped at a travel plaza close to us to get a sandwich from a restaurant there. My plan was to go through the drive-thru so I did not have to get out of the car. When I got there, the drive-thru was blocked off, so I drove past it and parked in the first spot I could find.

As I drove by I noticed a young lady sitting behind her car with a little dog. She was holding a sign that said “please help, out of gas. God bless.” There was an empty spot next to her so I pulled in. I got out of the car… and I went inside to get food. When I came out, I opened my door and got in but then I got back out. I walked to the back of the car and started talking to the young lady holding the sign.

I ended up getting her some gas and as she was at the pump she began to tell me things that she was going through. I got to pray with her and minister healing to her and bring peace to her situation. Had the drive-thru been opened I would not have seen this young lady and I would have missed the opportunity to be a blessing to her.

So many thoughts, excuses, scenarios went through my mind as I wondered if I should do anything to help her. What got me out of the car again was knowing that if I were in her situation I would want someone to help me. When someone is in need and you are able to help, help. Do not allow excuses to keep you from helping or doing good.
