13 And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat. Joshua 24:13.
This verse has always impressed me. It speaks to me of favor.
The dictionary defines favor as: something done or granted out of goodwill, rather than from justice or for remuneration; a kind act.
Has someone ever done you a favor? Are you in the habit of doing favors to others? I do not think I have done as many as I could have. Favors from others to me have not been overabundant. But God has surely favored me in so many ways.
Things have just happened unexpectedly; some when I was least deserving. But then I guess that is the nature of favor.
For the last almost 10 years (November 7) I have been favored with a wonderful younger wife and we have begotten an amazing girl child who is now 4 years old. Some years ago the Lord spoke to me that He was taking me on an Abrahamic journey. I did not know that would extend as far as having a child. I am glad for that favor. That whole package is extraordinary.
There are many things I have received from the hand of the Lord that God just did. Things I had desired, prayed about, spoken about, and yes, dreamed about.
My young daughter has heard me sing a song so many times that she says it is my song. It is the small chorus, God Is So Good. I can testify that that is true.
The other thing I can say with scriptural basis and life experience is that God is no respecter of persons. When I left home to go to Bible School my good-by song I sang at church was, It Is No Secret What God Can Do. That song says, What He’s done for others He will do for you. Decades later I have seen the truth to that also. I have seen God do things for me that I thought He would do for other more deserving folks but not for me. I no longer think along those mistaken lines.
I have learned that his favor extends to all His children. I look for it for me and for others too.
God is about to favor you.
Let me share our scripture again.
13 And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat. Joshua 24:13.
The favors the people of God received were of an impossible nature.
As I finish this message, I have to include something that just happened today. While I will not go into details we have been the recipients of a wonderful impossible favor. It seemed so apropos for it to coincide with this writing.
Our living room wall is decorated with a text that declares: With God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26. That He could perform a great favor is not impossible. That He would do it for you is not impossible. That He could do it swiftly is not impossible.
And again I say, God is about to favor you. That is the prophetic insight I have. That is enough. You have the vision. You have the desire. You have the need. And He knows all about it.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17.
Look up. Your Father is about to favor you. -PJF-
