I am a follower of Jesus Christ. I am a wife and a mother. I am a pastor. I am also a conservative minority woman that was born and raised in the United States of America. Of all that I am, the most significant is being a follower of Jesus Christ.
Yes, you read that correctly. More than anything else in the world, I want to be known as a follower of Jesus Christ. I believe that is more important than being a mother, a wife, even a pastor. It is even more important than being a minority woman in the USA.
My husband and my daughter are Godsent. They are extremely important to me. I do not know what I would do without them. Being a follower of Jesus Christ does not hinder me from loving my family, it enhances my love for them and keeps me in check on how I should treat them. Everything I am involved in should reflect that I am a follower of Jesus Christ.
Dictionary.com defines a follower to be a person who follows another in regard to his or her ideas or belief; disciple or adherent. According to Merriam-Webster a follower is: 1a: one in the service of another b: one that follows the opinions or teachings of another
c: one that imitates another.
There is no mystery in being a follower of Jesus Christ. He laid it all out for us. He did it, so I can do it. He said it, so I can say it. There is no confusion. There are no surprises.
