"And I will sever in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the Lord in the midst of the earth. And I will put a division between my people and thy people: to morrow shall this sign be." Exodus 8:22-23
Last summer my husband had the urge to cook out. We got the meat, prepared the grill, and set out to spend some quality time outdoors. When the food was cooked we brought everything inside and sat down to a wonderful meal. As we began to eat, our daughter freaked out and said, "There's a bug!" The three words I never want to hear. Sure enough, there was a fly buzzing around. Our beautifully prepared meal disturbed by a single fly.
God sent swarms of flies to the land of Egypt. A bunch of flies, all over the place. Everywhere, except Goshen. God cut Goshen out of Egypt and the flies could not go beyond the boundaries that God set up. There was a visible difference between the people of God and the Egyptians.
There should be a visible difference between God’s people and everyone else. When everything is crazy and going wrong, the people of God keep moving forward without any interruptions. We are blessed in the city and in the field. We are blessed in our going out and our coming in. We are the people of God and he has placed us in Goshen. -SAF-
