Set Thine House in Order!

2 Kings 20:1-6

1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.

2 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying,

3 I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

4 And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying,

5 Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.

6 And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

Most folks wait to get their house in order when they think they're going to die. As it turned out Hezekiah didn't die. He lived another 15 years. And he abandoned the idea of getting his house in order. Instead he opened it up to enemy visitors and caused much hurt to his children later.

See, getting your house in order is not just about dying. Getting your house in order is about living. If you die, your business will be put in order by your family and their lawyers. But if you live, only you have the power to set things aright.

I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. Ps. 118:17. If that prophetic word is for you, if that is your declaration of faith today, it would behoove you to get your house in order so that you may live a better life in the years remaining.

Begin by making things right with God. You know what you have to

do. Repent of your sins, receive Jesus as your Savior, begin to walk with Him. Become part of a church. Read the Bible. Share your faith with others unashamedly. Allow the Holy Spirit to conform you to the image of Jesus. Exciting things will begin to happen as you get this part of your life in order.

Next, forgive those who have hurt you. Seek peace with all men as the Bible commands. Then drop habits that confine you and ruin your health.

Get your finances in order. Get out of debt.

Live free and happy. Smile, laugh, and enjoy the years God is adding to your life.

And now a word from our Pastor…

Faith Like A Child

Matthew 18:1-3

“ At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.”

When I became a parent I began to see these Bible verses in a new way. ‘Little child’ is from infancy to six or seven years old. Our daughter is almost six years old, and almost everyday things become clearer how we (older folks) should become as little children as Jesus says in the verses above. Here are a few:

1. Children are dependent on their parents for everything. They cannot provide anything for themselves.

2. Children can sense when their parents have moved from one room to another. They will stop what they are doing to go find their parents because they don’t feel safe unless they know where their parents are.

3. Once you say you’re going to do something (or get something) for your child, they expect it to be done. There is no question about it happening, as far as they are concerned, it is already done.

4. If children don’t get a response right away, they will keep asking until they do.

5. Children will proclaim what you have said to anyone, at any time, even if it doesn’t fit in the conversation.

6. Children are quick to call out a lie.

7. Children are not afraid to be loud, especially when they are singing.

8. Children do not sugar coat anything.

9. Children are not afraid to look silly or foolish.

10. Children will tell every detail. -SAF-

Psalm 1 - Blessed

1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

To be blessed you have to be careful who you associate with, who you keep company with. Some folks will just drag you down and beat you up. They will pull you away from God, diminish your faith, and mock your faith talk. Let them go. And hold on to Jesus. Hold on to God's unchanging hand. Hallelujah!

The separated righteous individual thinks differently. His thoughts are toward God.

She is strong, stable, productive. and prosperous.

There just is a difference between God seekers and God fugitives.

I4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

These runaways are unstable souls, They are not the true fruit. They are chaff, the husks of grains and grasses that are separated during threshing. straw cut up for fodder. The definition goes even further. Worthless matter; refuse.

When judgement time comes they will not survive the divine scrutiny. They perish.

But we, fellow believer, are known of God and our ways are in his care. Hallelujah.

Listen. Today you get to pick what team you want to be on!

Make a quality decision to stay on the winning side.

Be one of the blessed. Change your thinking from defeat to victory.

You are a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Peter adds to that description. Listen to this. First Peter 2:9 decrees:

9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

So go ahead, be who the Bible says you are and praise the Lord for his wonderful works to the children of men. -PJF-
