Matthew 7:24-27 “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”
The example is given that two people were building a house. One was a wise man and the other was a foolish man. The wise man built on a rock and the foolish man built on the sand.
I want to emphasis why Jesus called one man wise and called the other man foolish. The man was called wise because he heard the sayings of Jesus and did them. He applied the sayings and principles and produced something that remained. The foolish man heard the same sayings of Jesus and did not do them. He decided he knew better and he wanted to do things his way. What he built fell hard.
If you want to be wise and build something that will withstand storms; hear the sayings of Jesus and do them. It is as simple as that. -SAF-
