19 And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever.
22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
2 Chronicles 20:19-22
Jehoshaphat received the message that a horde of enemies were coming in his direction to destroy the people and take over the land.
Immediately he sought God about the matter.
The Spirit of God came upon a Levite and he pronounced an encouraging and directive word from the Lord. Praise broke out among the people.
19 And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
Jehoshaphat believed the prophetic utterance. He told the people to believe too. He said, Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
This is still a viable word today. Notice it is Chapter 20, verse 20.
Very fitting for 2020.
Then Jehoshaphat did something else.
21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever.
As the people obeyed the instructions, God got involved.
22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.
God has a supernatural army he sends out against the invaders of His people. It is activated by praise. Nothing else is required. You can win or you can lose. Your praise makes the difference. You can exercise your right to be silent or praise him with a loud voice. Yeah, you have to open your mouth and be loud. V. 19.
Loudness is criticized among the religious folk. God likes it. And the devil hates it.
Psalm 47:1: O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
Psalm 149:5,6: Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.
6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand;
Psalm 100:1: Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.
Do not let the preacher do all the shouting. That is for his victory.
Shout for yours. -PJF-
