The Blood of Jesus

By Apostle PJ Flores

May 2022

Let us consider the scriptures found in Exodus chapter 12 and verses 5 through 13.

5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:

6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.

9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.

10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.

11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the Lord's passover.

12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord.

13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

The blood of this lamb spoken of here in Exodus is a picture, a representation, or a type and a shadow of the blood of Jesus that would be shed hundreds of years later on Mount Calvary and by which we have forgiveness of sin.

The instructions were clear concerning the passover lamb and the blood of it on the Exodus eve.

Number one.

The lamb must be without blemish.

Secondly:

The lamb must be killed.

Third.

The blood must be applied to the door of each house.

That was the responsibility of each head of household in the congregation of Israel.

Next we see what effect this obedience would have in the lives of those who participated in the protocol outlined by God.

Once again, verse 13 declares:

13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

The blood will be visible to the one that matters even in the darkest of night.

The blood will act as a separator. That which is meant for those outside the covenant will not come to those under the blood. There are those unprotected. They will be smitten. There is no other remedy but the blood.

The privilege of passover was not by birth but by application of the blood upon the door. Obedience to God’s prescribed order was essential. Both in the

striking of the top of the door and the sides with blood, thus painting the image of a cross, and in the fact that it had to be upon the door itself, representing Him who would eventually declare himself the door, that is Jesus.

1 Corinthians 5:7 defines it.

For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us.

The application does not require a theological degree, my friend. The blood of Jesus has been shed. Allow the blood to be applied to your life today. And be saved.

And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you. That is still operative today. Amen. -PJF-
