“And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.
But God raised him from the dead:” Acts 13:29,30
The prophetic docket had been fulfilled. The death sentence had been carried out. The spiritless body of Jesus hung on the cross. Together, Joseph of Arimathaea and Nicodemus leaned a ladder against the rough tree. They pulled out the spikes that held the hands and feet of the corpse. Their garments were stained with the innocent blood. They wrapped the body in a linen cloth and carried it to the sepulchre. Reverently they laid the body down, gave it a last glance, wondered, and then walked away. It was finished. (John 19:38-42)
BUT GOD RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD! Hallelujah!
The Resurrection Principle is alive today. What you have buried in hopelessness can live again. As a matter of fact, without a dying there can be no resurrection.
Jesus put it this way: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” John 12:24.
Paul elaborates on the same agricultural concept. Read 1 Corinthians 15:35-38:
35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
What you think has been buried is maybe just a planting. The Lord took that seed of an idea, a vision, a calling and planted to a better time and a greater fruit.
See, God will take that which is in the ground so to speak, and he will
give it the body he wants and which will be most productive and most
profitable to you. What you reap will be better and more than what you
sowed or planted.
Yes, Jesus was buried. That seed fell in the ground. All that he had done and taught seemingly died. But wait, there is more! The burial essentially turned out to be a planting. Burial indicates no future hope of existence. Planting is for a new life form to come forth.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 1 Corinthians 15:42,43.
And today we see the glorious reaping of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
God has not buried your future. He merely planted it so that today it could spring up and bring forth fruit. Exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think kind of fruit..
This day is about new life through Jesus Christ. Live it!
Celebrate, Jesus celebrate
Celebrate, Jesus celebrate
Celebrate, Jesus celebrate
Celebrate, Jesus celebrate
He is risen, He is risen
And He lives forevermore
He is risen, He is risen
Come on and celebrate
The resurrection of our Lord
Come on and celebrate
The resurrection of the Lord. (Song by Gary Oliver)
