The Salvation Poem
by Matt & Sherry McPherson
“Jesus you died upon the cross
And rose again to save the lost
Forgive me now of all my sin
Come be my savior, Lord and friend
Change my life and make it new
And help me Lord to live for you”
I was introduced to this song by a Christian TV program called, “Superbook.” My husband put this on for our daughter one day, and it has become a regular program for her. At the end of each episode, they play this song and our daughter sings along with it. Soon my husband and I join in and sing too.
This song is simple enough for preschoolers to learn and understand it. It is also thought provoking for the older crowds. The authors of this poem wanted a way for people to share the gospel in a short and simple way that they will not forget. This song/ poem has been used in many ways to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Many have taken the step to ask Jesus to be Lord and Savior of their lives. People from all over the world, from every age group.
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15. Every believer should be telling (using their words) others the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you do not know where to begin, start with the poem. As you open your mouth the Holy Spirit will guide you through. -SAF-
