And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Ephesians 2:1-6.
In the first verse the Apostle states the premise he is about to pursue.
You were dead and God made you alive.
For so many of us fortunately, it is time past. And sadly for so many it is time present. But here is the condition, the status of one who is not in Christ. He is dead. And here is what being dead means. It is not a static or stationary experience rather is a downward spiral. Contrary to evolution the human condition is not improving. It is a degenerative disease.
He is enveloped by the world system, which is Satanically controlled. That is a spiritual influence that is currently at play in those who have chosen the path of disobedience.
There is the external environment the unbeliever wakes up to every day. There are the children of disobedience and there are the children of wrath. They are one and the same. The children of disobedience suffer the afore mentioned external condition and also have an internal force that compels them to evil. That is the lust of the flesh. It is not limited to immoral persuasion. It occupies the mind of the Christless individual compelling him to covet pleasure, drink, profanity, and the seventeen works listed in Galatians 5:19-21. These evils are not only considered but they are fulfilled by a powerless person.
That is who God loves.
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins; And you hath he quickened.
He took the dead and made it alive. And note that he did that that resurrection morning-- hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together. So this is a done deal. And made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. If you are not saved there is an empty seat with your name on it up in heaven. All you need to do is accept the grace and love of God which he demonstrated at the cross and immediately you are transitioned from the lowest life form to the highest position. That influence and that power that you cannot conquer, it is broken and old things pass away and you become a new creature. You enter the realm of the “weres” seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, the One who has all power in heaven and earth, and then the devil cannot touch you.
You enter the environment of those who can do all things through Christ who strengthens you, and you become the possessor of the one who is greater in you than he that is in the world.
Today you are wanted: Dead to make you alive. Pray the prayer. -PJF-
