What's That Smell?

By Pastor Shirley Flores

I have changed my fair share of diapers before our daughter Emily was potty trained. I don’t know, maybe it's a mom thing, but I could always tell when our daughter had a dirty diaper. Regardless of it being a super duty mess or just a tiny bit, the stench of it was the same. It was unbearable and it had to be taken care of as soon as possible, if not right away.

I believe that's how God sees our mess (sins). See, regardless of the size, the dimensions, the complications of it, the stench to Him is still the same. It's unbearable and it has to be taken care of as soon as possible if not right away.

He is holy. He is perfect in all his ways. He is the standard that we as believers in Christ should strive for. We won't be able to attain his perfect nature all the time in this life, but he has provided a way for us to be clean again so we're no longer smelly and unbearable.

He has given us Jesus, his only begotten Son to take our messes so we can be clean. He has given us the Holy Spirit to lead us and guide us in all truth.

Whatever mess you are in today, allow God to clean it up in you and for you. He's willing to do this, if you allow him to. --SAF--
