What’s Your Favorite Part of the Day? June Purpose! Newsletter Article By Pastor Shirley Flores

June 2022

A few months ago as we were saying goodnight, I asked our daughter “what was your favorite part of the day?” She gave me her answer and then asked me. After I answered she said, “oh what about my dad? I want to ask him, can I go ask him?” Ever since this has been part of our nightly routine.

Depending on the day, my usual response would be that my favorite part was our Church Service, Bible Study, or just coming home from work. But really, my favorite part of the day is watching my husband and our daughter asking each other about their favorite part of their day.

Emily climbs up on her dad’s lap and lays her head on his shoulder and they just cuddle for a moment before they begin their conversation. I am privileged to see this. It gives me a visual of how God wants us to be with him.

I know for many believers it is hard to see God as their Father or that he would want to spend time with them. The truth is God loves you and he wants to spend every waking moment with you. He wants you to sit with him and tell him about your favorite, or not so favorite, part of your day. He wants to wrap his loving arms around you and let you know how special you are to him. He is God, the Father.

Here are some Bible verses to meditate on:

Jeremiah 31:3: The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Psalm 103:8, 11, 17: 8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. 17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;

It is a beautiful thing to be loved and to give love. Don’t allow anything to keep you from receiving God’s love and reciprocating love to God. Let this month be the start of something new and wonderful in your relationship with your Father, God. -SAF-
